We offer the opportunity for students to visit our offices and learn more about the job by attending one of our open days, which take place in November and December.
The aim of the open day is to give you an idea of what the job involves on a day to day basis. The day includes a series of talks and practical exercises, covering topics such as patent drafting, patent prosecution and managing the workload.
We try to include plenty of opportunity to talk to people with varying levels of experience of the job. Therefore, the sessions will be run by partners in the firm, by qualified patent agents and by trainees who have only been with us for a year or two. We also have a lunchtime buffet where you get the chance to meet some of the other members of the firm.
The day is directed to those with a real interest in the patent profession, and who are likely to meet our recruitment requirements (including a good degree - 2:1 or above - in a science background). Given the limited number of places available, we also prefer to offer those places to those who will be in a position to apply for our 2009 vacancies.
We hope that participation in the day will give you a much clearer idea of what being a patent attorney is all about, and help you to determine whether or not this is the career path for you.
Dates for this year's open days will be posted on our website in September.
