AIPLA Women in IP Global Networking Event: Manchester 4 April 2019

On Thursday 4 April, we were delighted to host an American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Women in IP Law Global Networking Event at our Manchester Office.  Ours was one of over 50 networking celebrations taking place across the world.

Organised in collaboration with IP Inclusive, who work to promote diversity and inclusion in IP,  members of the local IP and Innovation community came together to celebrate women in intellectual property in the North West.

Partner Sarah Kostiuk-Smith, (AIPLA Women in IP Law Sub-Committee member and IP Inclusive: Women in IP Committee member), welcomed guests and introduced a short video from AIPLA.  European and South African locations hosting events also came together on a conference call and each shared how they were celebrating Women in IP in their city.

The theme of our event was the bumblebee, one of the world's most important pollinators of food crops, which is currently in decline.  Guests were provided with materials from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, wildflower seeds to help increase the quantity and quality of foraging habitat for bumblebees, along with a pot of locally produced honey.

Our canapés were provided by The Clink, a unique UK charity, which provides prisoners with an opportunity to gain new skills and qualifications in catering and horticulture. They work to reduce reoffending, change attitudes, transform lives and create second chances.   A pop-up bar provided a range of delicious prosecco cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.

Thank you to all those who attended on the evening.
