We’re looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial IP Litigator (a UK solicitor, UK barrister or qualified European lawyer) to join our legal team, as part of our rapid expansion plans to meet significant demand.
Expect to get directly involved in active UPC and UK litigation (including for global pharma and biotech clients), advisory work and even pitches. This is predominantly a pharma and life sciences role, but with opportunity for exposure to technology-focused patents, trade mark and trade secret disputes. You’ll have direct exposure to a diverse client base from day one, ranging from start-ups to large multi-nationals and be part of an evolving, energetic and dynamic team.
Patent litigation is undergoing significant change with the emerging prominence of the UPC and its impact on global patent enforcement strategies. At Mewburn Ellis, we are at the forefront of this shift, so there has never been a better time to join and help shape the future of this area and the future of your own career.
Joining us, you’ll enjoy an environment that is friendly, collaborative and developmental. We have a forward-looking, ambitious and inclusive approach at Mewburn Ellis and, as an IP Litigator, you can expect to develop your full potential as we will invest in you to allow you to grow personally and professionally.
• Performance-related bonus scheme
• Hybrid office and home working (50/50)
• Flexible working hours and 30 days leave (exc. Bank Holidays)
• Generous pension scheme, enhanced family leave
• Paid day off for charitable endeavours
• Discount Voucher Scheme, Electric Car Scheme
• Workplace ISA, Medicash, Care concierge
You’ll hone your skills as an IP Litigator through development reviews and regular input from experienced partners.

An enquiring, solution-orientated mind and a high-quality focus are a few traits we look for. It is critical that you are qualified and ideally have a life sciences academic background or have had decent exposure to patent litigation ideally in the life sciences area. Along with technical expertise and experience, you’ll possess the ability to manage a variety of relationships and a varied workload, prioritising accordingly. Being personable and approachable, with a willingness to continuously learn will also be key.
