On Thursday 15 October 2026, we were delighted to host our panel discussion and networking event ‘Bench to Boardroom: Funding, IP and Value Creation in Biotech’.
The event brought together founders, investors, business leaders, technology transfer professionals and advisers to discuss the journey from scientific discovery to commercial success, including fundraising, IP strategy, partnering, diligence and transactions.
We had a brilliant panel: Priya Mande (RNAvate), Kevin Tipping (AstraZeneca), Nerida Scott (Beacon BioStrategies) and our own Sean Jauss, with Simon Kiddle doing an outstanding job as moderator. Between them they shared loads of practical insight, challenged a few bits of conventional wisdom, and reminded us that building a successful biotech is a lot more complicated than most pitch decks would have you believe.

We learned that brilliant science alone rarely gets funded, and that decisions which seem relatively minor in the early days can come back to haunt companies during fundraising or diligence. We also spent some time on the increasingly challenging funding environment, the rise of China biotech, and the delicate art of balancing disclosure, protection and commercial ambition.
The panel itself was excellent, and the room was buzzing during the networking session afterwards. There was a real energy in the room and plenty of new connections were made. We would like to thank our panellists, chair and all attendees for contributing to such an insightful discussion.
