IAM Patent 1000, 2019

We are delighted to be ranked highly recommended in ‘IAM 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners’ for our expertise in the patent prosecution field and for our work at the European Patent Office (EPO).

Here’s what the IAM 1000 researchers said about us:

“Mewburn Ellis has a long and venerable history in UK intellectual property but this has never got in the way of it being at the very forefront of technological development. The firm continues to enjoy strong growth, which is in large part built on its continental reach, gold-plated technical ability and searingly honest advice. Mewburn Ellis’s European procedures practice is perhaps the jewel in its crown, with companies such as Second Sight, Regeneron and Genentech trusting it to take care of their EPO business.”

Partners singled out for praise

Eight of our partners were recognised in the ‘United Kingdom: England’ section:

Robert Watson was singled out as a ‘chemistry and materials savant described as “a pleasure to work with” by one satisfied client‘ and Simon Kremer‘s ‘silky life sciences prosecution skills that allow him to work wonders on EPO judges‘ were picked up on by researchers.

One of Chris Denison‘s most successful cases was focused on and Simon Kiddle was recognised as a ‘cleantech guru, with the ability to craft spotless patents and defend the least promising EPO cases with remarkable success.’

Nick Sutcliffe, Stephen Gill and Seán Walton were described as being able to ‘cut the mustard with clients time and time again.’ Nick Sutcliffe was also recognised for ‘his superb ability to negotiate patent-term extensions.’ Seán Walton was praised for ‘his astutely drafted patents that sidestep all manner of obstacles with ease’ and Stephen Gill was singled out for his ‘widely admired’ filing practice.

Simon Parry was singled out for his ‘top-notch engineering counsel‘.
