Our Cambridge office has selected to support Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) with a total donation of £50,000 across two years. Already this year, our funding has helped provide counselling to 30 women, some of whom had been waiting up to five months for support.
CRCC was founded in 1982 as a confidential helpline by a group of local women responding to the growing awareness of sexual violence against women and girls. Over the past four decades, it has grown into a specialist organisation offering a wide range of support services to over 1,000 survivors of rape, sexual abuse, and sexual violence each year across Cambridgeshire.
Their mission is to ensure that all women and girls affected by sexual violence can access the best possible, user-led, specialist support. CRCC’s work is grounded in a strong commitment to equality, empowerment, and advocacy. From providing women-only spaces and challenging harmful myths and victim-blaming, to driving systemic change and delivering training to individuals and organisations, their approach centres on respect, choice, and the belief that survivors are experts in their own healing.
Our donation helps CRCC continue its vital work, including delivering confidential, non-judgemental counselling and support services and raising awareness of sexual violence and its impact.
CRCC believes that survivors are experts in their own healing, and their values of equality, respect, transparency, choice, and quality guide every aspect of their work. Their vision is a world where all women and girls are free from the fear and experience of sexual violence.
“To have been chosen by Mewburn Ellis employees and receive such incredible support is literally life-changing for the women and girls we work alongside. There are now already women and girls receiving specialist counselling to support their recovery who, without this donation, would otherwise still be waiting. This commitment is also a powerful act of solidarity and collective care. We are enormously grateful and are very much looking forward to working with the Mewburn Ellis team over the next two years.“
