Bhakti is a qualified patent attorney within our life sciences team, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from universities to major pharmaceutical companies, both locally and internationally. Bhakti’s work includes drafting patent applications—particularly in the field of cancer biomarkers—and managing the prosecution of patents from initial filing through to grant. Bhakti also has experience representing clients in opposition proceedings before the EPO, and has undertaken freedom to operate and patent landscaping projects.

Background

Bhakti has an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Imperial College London, where she was awarded the Convenors Prize. During her undergraduate degree she undertook a placement year at the National Institute for Medical Research where she investigated mechanisms of B cell activation. She also holds an MRes degree in Molecular Basis of Infection and a PhD in Virology, both from Imperial College London. Her PhD focussed on host restriction mechanisms of the influenza viral polymerase. 

Bhakti joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2020 and qualified as UK and European Patent Attorney in 2025.
