Christoph handles original patent drafting and prosecution at the EPO and DPMA (German Patent and Trade Mark Office), principally in the engineering sector. He regularly represents clients in opposition and appeal proceedings, as well as nullity and litigation proceedings before German courts. Christoph advises clients on all matters of IP strategy and portfolio management, including Employee’s Inventions in Germany. He also handles design matters.  Christoph is spearheading our dedicated team of future mobility experts.

Christoph works with a number of large multinationals based in the US and Japan, as well as small start-ups in Singapore and other jurisdictions.


He has a Master’s degree (Dipl. Ing. Univ.) in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, as well as Master of Laws degrees from the University of Hagen and the University of Strasbourg. Christoph is an authorised representative before EUIPO and DPMA.   He qualified as a German Patent Attorney in 2009 and European Patent Attorney in 2010 and was Vice President and Head of Patents at a Swiss elevator company before joining Mewburn Ellis LLP as a partner in 2017.
