Ramya is a Trade Mark Paralegal with 5 years’ experience in the UK IP sector.

Prior to relocating to the UK, Ramya worked in India as an Advocate specialising in IP prosecution, litigation (Civil/Criminal and High Courts) and arbitration/conciliation proceedings for 8 years.

Ramya assists the firm’s trade mark team with worldwide filing and prosecution.

Ramya works with a wide range of clients which include pharmaceutical companies, food and beverages and has also handled clients in the gaming industry and tech start-ups.


Ramya studied law (LL.B) at the University Law College, Bangalore (India). While pursuing her law degree she also completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property from National Law School of India University (NLSIU, Bangalore). She then successfully completed her Masters in Intellectual Property choosing to write her dissertation on ‘The Sui Generis Protection of Traditional Knowledge’ from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (2008).

Ramya is a qualified Advocate (Karnataka Bar Council, 2005), Registered Trade Mark Agent (India TMO, 2008) and a qualified UK Solicitor (SRA, 2020)

Ramya has worked in the UK in IP boutique practices. She worked at a Magic Circle firm prior to joining Mewburn Ellis in June 2021.
