Rebecca is a UK and European patent attorney in our life sciences team. She advises clients across all stages of the patent lifecycle from invention capture to prosecution and opposition proceedings.

Rebecca manages the prosecution of patent portfolios worldwide, including in Europe, the US, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and other South American and Asian countries. 

She also assists clients with oppositions and appeals at the EPO, with particular experience opposing and defending patents relating to enzyme technologies. In amongst this experience, Rebecca has been a core team member in several highly complex, multi-party cases.

Clients

The majority of Rebecca’s work is with multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. She also has experience working with foreign attorney clients, universities and start-ups.

Background

Rebecca has a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol. She completed two final year projects, the first focussing on the role of Endoglin in angiogenesis and the development of tumours and the second investigating the importance of specific effector proteins in Salmonella infection.

Rebecca joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2019 from another IP firm, after entering into the profession in 2015. She qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2019 and as a Charted Patent Attorney in 2020. In 2021, she also obtained the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate under the IPReg Rules.
