Susannah Dragosavac

Susannah is a UK and European patent attorney in the engineering and technology team, specialising in medical devices, MedTech innovation, medical imaging systems, healthcare software, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and user interfaces.

Her practice spans a broad range of technologies, with particular expertise in wearable sensors, surgical instruments, surgical data processing systems, medical imaging technologies, and AI-enabled healthcare solutions. Susannah advises clients on freedom-to-operate (FTO) strategies, patent validity and infringement issues, European patent oppositions and appeals, multinational patent family coordination, and the strategic management of large and complex patent portfolios.

Susannah has worked with clients ranging from early-stage start-ups to multinational corporations, supporting innovation across the product lifecycle in fields including language modelling, software, medical devices, wearable sensors, and digital health technologies. She is known for building a deep understanding of her clients’ technologies and commercial objectives, enabling her to provide practical, tailored advice that supports business growth and innovation.

Drawing on experience gained both within a start-up environment and as part of the in-house intellectual property team of a global medical technology company, Susannah brings a commercially pragmatic perspective to patent strategy, portfolio development, and risk management.

Background

Susannah studied Natural Sciences (Experimental and Theoretical Physics) at the University of Cambridge, graduating with a first-class degree. She joined the patent profession in 2007 and qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2011. She was awarded the Gill Prize for achieving the highest aggregate mark in the Chartered Patent Attorney examinations.

Susannah joined the partnership at Mewburn Ellis in 2025 after 18 years at another leading intellectual property firm.
