Read our law and practice guidesThea is a trainee patent attorney in our chemistry and materials team with experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a broad range of chemical technologies, including small molecule pharmaceuticals and consumer-facing chemical formulations.
She also plays a pivotal role in delivering freedom-to-operate (FTO) reports, conducting due diligence reviews, and performing validity assessments. Her sharp eye for detail and clear comprehension of the commercial realities faced by our clients enable her to identify both risks and opportunities within complex patent landscapes. Thea is adept at translating technical details into actionable legal and strategic advice, making her a trusted resource for clients navigating high-stakes decisions.
Thea works with a variety of clients, including universities, start-ups, multinational companies, and international attorneys. With a strong scientific foundation and a clear, analytical approach, she delivers thoughtful, reliable support throughout the innovation process and across the full spectrum of IP matters.
Areas of Expertise
Background
Thea graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master’s degree in chemistry and was awarded a scholarship for academic work (2020-2021). Her final year project focused on the template-directed synthesis of porphyrin macrocycles and the synthesis of nitrogen-based nanoring templates.
Thea speaks fluent French, which is a huge asset when working with French-speaking clients.
She joined Mewburn Ellis in 2022.
