Theresa is a Trade Mark Paralegal with over 14 years experience in the IP sector. She assists the firm’s trade mark team with filing, prosecution and enforcement of trade marks worldwide. Theresa has developed critical strategic, analytical and relationship building skills whilst managing large global portfolios in order to provide valuable support and IP services to clients. Prior to joining Mewburn Ellis, Theresa worked with three International IP Law Firms where she gained first-hand experience as a valuable member of IP legal teams, recordal and HR departments.
Areas of Expertise- Conducting online trade mark identity and similarity searches for Germany and the European Union, legal assessment and advising on the trade mark availability
- German, European and International trade mark filings and prosecutions
- Assisting with trade mark oppositions and appeals globally
- Preparing and processing legal documentation such as warning letters, statements and legal texts
- Recording transfers of IP rights (change of ownership – merges, assignments, change of name/address) globally
- Processing of watch notices
- Implementing and supervising customs requests in order to detect counterfeit trade marks and designs
- Employee support in preparing legal documents such as employment contracts, references and certificates as an HR manager in close cooperation with the management board

Theresa works with clients in a wide field of industry sectors including fashion, cosmetics, food and beverages, fintech, electronics and electronic engineering, marketing and telecommunication services, computer software, pharmaceuticals and consumer healthcare, which range from small start-ups to large multinational corporations.
Background
Theresa studied law at the University of Trier, Lausanne and Bonn, specialising in Anglo-American, European and International Law by obtaining her law degree (Staatsexamen) and also completing her legal articled clerkship (Referendariat) at the Supreme Court of Koblenz.
Theresa joined Mewburn Ellis in June 2022.
