Read our law and practice guidesAmelia is an associate patent attorney working as part of our life sciences team. She is experienced working at all stages of the patent application process, including drafting, prosecution, due diligence and freedom-to-operate analysis.
Amelia works with a range of clients, including universities, spin-outs, SMEs and multinational corporations. Her work often involves discussions with researchers around invention capture, patentability analysis, filing strategy and freedom-to-operate.
Amelia is involved in Mewburn’s SynBio and Women’s health campaign groups. She also has a keen interest in GreenTech and innovations tackling the climate crisis.
Areas of Expertise
Background
Amelia has a first class degree in Biochemistry from Cardiff University and a PhD in Cancer Sciences from the University of Manchester, sponsored by Cancer Research UK.
During her undergraduate degree, Amelia spent 12 months working for a pharmaceutical company where her research project focused on optimising large-scale antibody production. Her PhD research investigated phosphatase control of the cell cycle.
She joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2022 and qualified as a UK Patent Attorney in 2025.
