Andrew deals with drafting and prosecuting patent applications at the EPO and UKIPO, as well as global patent portfolio management, Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) work and advising on global patent filing strategies. He works in the engineering and electronics fields, with a focus on medical device technologies.

Andrew has spent time working as a patent attorney in Singapore, where he specialised in providing advice on obtaining patent protection throughout South-East Asia, China and the Indian sub-continent. He has also worked in Canada, developing an expertise in obtaining patent protection in North America.

Andrew has broad experience working directly with a range of companies in the UK and overseas, ranging from start-ups to multinationals.

Background

He has a first class Master’s degree in Engineering (MEng – Electronics) from Cardiff University. He began his patent career in-house with Rolls Royce and qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Attorney in 2010, and as a Singapore Patent Attorney in 2012. He joined Mewburn Ellis LLP as a partner in 2018.
