Anja is a member of our life sciences patent team specialising in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She is experienced in prosecuting patent applications before the EPO and DPMA as well as in offensive and defensive oppositions before the EPO.

Anja works mainly with biopharma companies including large US and European multinationals, SME's and small biotechs.
Background
Anja has a Bachelor’s degree in molecular biotechnology, a Master’s degree in industrial biotechnology and a PhD in biochemical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. In her Master’s thesis she investigated the expression and immobilisation of affinity ligands for antibody purification. During her doctoral thesis, she studied light dependent growth kinetics of microalgae in flat-plate photobioreactors on different bioreactor scales up to pilot scale.
Anja joined Mewburn Ellis in 2021. She qualified as a German Patent Attorney in 2020 and European Patent Attorney in 2021.
