Read our law and practice guidesSarah is an associate patent attorney in our Manchester-based Life Sciences team. She works with a broad spectrum of clients in the life sciences sector, including universities, innovative start-ups, and global biotechnology companies. Sarah has experience working across the patent lifecycle, including drafting and prosecution, large-scale Freedom to Operate projects, and opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office. Sarah particularly enjoys working as part of a team on complex, multi-party oppositions and appeals.
Sarah is an active member of Mewburn’s microbiome and women’s health teams. With a scientific background in plant-microbe interactions, Sarah has developed a strong interest in how human health is influenced by microbial relationships. She is also passionate about advancing women’s health and supporting technologies that aim to close the gender health gap.

Sarah has a degree in Biological Sciences from Oxford University and completed a PhD in plant-microbe interactions at the University of Warwick.
Before joining Mewburn, she worked as a post-doc in the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products at York University where her research focused on plant responses to biotic stress.
She qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2023 and a European Patent Attorney in 2024.
