Zhaobo prosecutes and defends patent applications at the EPO for various international clients in the chemistry field, particularly experienced in oppositions and appeal both in offensive and defensive positions. He also has extensive experience under the Chinese Patent Law, including four years as a patent examiner in the Chinese Patent Office from 2010 to 2014 and another four years as a patent attorney in a leading IP law firm of China from 2014 to 2018.

Background

Zhaobo has a BSc in Chemistry from the Peking University which exempted him from the national entrance exam, Gaokao and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which focused on functionalization research of SiO2 nanoparticles with photosensitizers.

Zhaobo qualified as a Chinese Patent Attorney in 2014. He obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Intellectual Property and Competition Law from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center of the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in 2019.

Zhaobo joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2020 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2023.
