On Wednesday 7 October 2026, we were delighted to welcome early-career professionals from across a range of industries and disciplines to our junior professionals networking evening in our London office.
The event brought together legal and non-legal professionals, to build new connections, share experiences and explore different approaches to networking at an early stage in their careers.
The evening began with an introduction from Thea Toutoungy, followed by some of our partners, Camilla Balleny, Robert Andrews, Amy Crouch and Robert Watson, who shared their experiences of networking and reflected on the role that professional relationships have played throughout their careers. The discussion explored their different approaches to building and maintaining networks, the challenges they had encountered and how their networks have evolved over time.

The event was led by some of our junior attorneys/solicitors:
Thea Toutoungy, Liam Batty, Jamie Emerick, Sam Hart, Toby Hill
A key theme from the discussion was that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to networking. Authenticity can often be more valuable than following a particular formula, and what successful networking looks like will naturally vary according to personality, career stage and professional goals.
Whether through industry events, professional bodies, mentoring relationships or informal introductions, the panel encouraged attendees to find an approach that feels both natural and sustainable. One particularly memorable takeaway was to avoid the traditional ‘elevator pitch’ where possible and instead focus on genuine conversations and connections.
The conversations continued after the introduction, with attendees sharing their own experiences and making new connections throughout the evening. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm for networking opportunities aimed specifically at junior professionals, particularly as this was the first event of its kind at Mewburn Ellis.
We would like to thank our partners, our junior attorneys who helped lead the evening, and all those who joined us for contributing to such an engaging evening. We also hope this will be the first of many opportunities to bring early-career professionals together to connect, exchange ideas and grow their networks.
